While this is good behavior for a switch, if you're looking for a hub (for instance, to monitor traffic on a SOHO network), this device will not meet your needs. In spite of its moniker, this device behaves exactly like a switch--namely, traffic is only moved between ports to whom traffic belongs (and not copied to all ports, as it would be on a hub). When is a hub not a hub. When Linksys calls it a "hub".
Now I can get a Vonage account. Sent in a timely manner. Works great.
Thanks anyhow.Bob B As I recall this is the item that you cancelled the order on. I did secure an 8 port model which works just fine, but of course I never received a 5 port model which is more feasible to use/sell.
An inexpensive and easy solution. Plugged this little hub into my switch then the boot PC, device and analyzer into the hub. The only thing I don't like is yet another wall-wart power transformer. Just plug and play. I needed to watch the booting sequence on a new prototype device.
Other than that, no complaints. The only reason I give it four stars is, as the manual states, when you use the uplink port the adjacent port can't be used as they are interconnected. This usually catches people who just come and plug in and then wonder why they can't get on. I'm an engineer at a post production company. A great hub for the money. There is only one jack in each office, so these little hubs come in handy. We often have visiting production companies in and out, constantly moving and adding PC's and network printers. So far I have had none fail.
